Bankruptcy Steps – Part B Steps After Filing

  1. If you have not already done so, provide us with any documents requested, including tax returns and bank statements. For a list of documents you will need to provide us, see “Documents Required by Kight Law Office“.
  2. Attend the 341 Meeting in Asheville. You will be notified of the date, time and directions to the meeting.
  3. Complete the Pre-Discharge Personal Financial Management Education Course through Ontrack (1-800-737-5485) or online through Hummingbird Credit Counseling (www.hbcce.org).  This is not the same class as that mentioned in #2 above. You must complete both classes in order to receive your discharge.
  4. Provide the Trustee with any documentation/information/payment he or she may request at the 341 Meeting. If the Trustee requests that you provide anything we will be sure to follow up with you regarding the request.

Note:

These steps are the basic steps that occur in almost all bankruptcy cases. Each case is different, and you may be required to perform more steps than the ones contemplated above. As your attorney, we will be sure to discuss each step with you and assist you throughout the bankruptcy process.  Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns.  We thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance during this difficult time.
